This antique style lawyer bookcase is hand made in the USA using sustainably sourced North American hardwood. The fully assembled solid wood shelf sections securely stack together with an interlocking system. No tools required – simply unpack and stack the glass door sections in any combination. Easily add more shelf sections as your library grows. The receding glass door sectional unit is well built with a lacquered bronze knob and a mechanical equalizer to keep the door from binding and allow for easy, one-handed operation. Expand this three stack combo with other Heritage Standard Depth shelf sections, including the media drawer, pull out shelf and more.
Hand crafted from kiln-dried solid Cherry, Oak, Birch or Walnut, the Heritage collection has the classic lines of vintage fine furniture and the long-lasting strength of solid wood construction. The interlocking design of the Heritage collection gives you the ability to stack the sections as needed, and you can easily add more units later as your collection grows.
The natural beauty of wood is in its unique color, grain and texture characteristics. Finishes are designed to enhance this distinction in wood. Thus, the finished product may differ from the above color swatches and an exact match cannot be guaranteed.*

I couldn't be happier with my Hale barrister bookcase! I have wanted one for years for my antique glass dish collection. Hale provides customers with solid, beautiful bookcases. I highly recommend this company - even if it takes a little bit longer to receive --- they are worth the wait!
I am very pleased with my Hale bookcases. They are well built and just lovely. Shipping was quick and everything arrived as ordered. Looking forward to adding more in the future.
As the proud owner of no less than six vintage Globe-Wernicke barrister bookcases, I'm delighted that Hale has continued to make high-quality, solid wood barrister bookcases. I now have two sets from Hale and am thinking about getting a set for my son. The workmanship and materials are superb and, as Arlo Guthrie once observed, can't be beat. Save you money and get some; they'll last multiple lifetimes. You'll thank me.
We placed a rather large order for our home library, hoping to match some 75 year old (inherited) bookcases. The samples of wood allowed us to match the older ones and the result is totally beautiful. The construction is very solid and the finish excellent. We also ordered the lateral file. A warning about these, the directions sound complicated but they go together relatively easily but does involve a screwdriver. MOST IMPORTANTLY was the customer service. We had damage to two of the pieces - and Hale was very responsive, sending out (in one case) replacement parts and in the other, replacing the piece. Regarding a previous comment on the glass panel, I can assure you it is much better than the ones on the 75 year old ones we have. This is a first rate product from a first rate company.
