Four and a half inches deeper than the standard Heritage Barrister Bookcase, these roomy antique style shelf sections fit larger books, vinyl record collections and binders. Made in the USA using sustainably sourced North American hardwood, the fully assembled solid wood shelf sections securely stack together. No tools required – simply unpack and stack the glass door sections. Easily add more shelf sections as your library grows. The receding glass door sectional unit is well built with a lacquered bronze knob and a mechanical equalizer to keep the door from binding and allow for easy, one-handed operation. Expand upon this glass door section with other Heritage Extra Deep shelf sections, including the media drawer, pull out shelf and more.
Hand crafted from kiln-dried solid Cherry, Oak, Birch or Walnut, the Heritage collection has the classic lines of vintage fine furniture and the long-lasting strength of solid wood construction. The interlocking design of the Heritage collection gives you the ability to stack the sections as needed, and you can easily add more units later as your collection grows.

United StatesFrom the design help from the Hale team (Penny was amazing!) to make sure that I selected all of the right pieces for my wall of bookcases, to the ease with which the bookcases came together, I highly recommend Hale. These are premium bookcases similar to an antique set of barrister bookcases which I inherited and they are an elegant way to display my many, many treasured books.
United StatesI like the finish and cabinetry of these units. They look good However, I recently came across some old Globe Wernecke units at an antique store which were the gold standard for barrister cabinets I believe. Probably close to a hundred years old, but I found the mechanism for lifting the front door and sliding back to be much smoother than the new Hale units, which take some finessing to move back into the cabinet as compared to the Globe units. You might want to revisit your mechanism.

United StatesThis is now my third purchase from Hale - I'm slowing organizing my house and will continue to buy more as I sort through and organize myself. This company has been exceptional to work with - the quality of the product and the care in packing and shipment is wonderful. If you have any doubts, do what I did - start out with a small order and see for yourself. My first purchase was a base, two case units and a top. I figured if I didn't like them, it would be something I could use in a bedroom. I was so impressed when I got them, I immediately started planning for my next purchase. These will outlast me!
United StatesThese book cases are now the finest furniture in the house. 2 stacks of five each, side by side with one long cap covering both, they are magnificent in light cherry wood. Arrived well protected and in great shape. This is my second order from Hale, the first being a stack of 2 walnut lateral files, which are also beautiful and in great working order. I recommend both products without hesitation.
